I'm a third generation working artist. Creativity and Imagination have been the central part of my life for as long as I can remember. Most of my work stems from my interest in the human form and its relationship with mythological and spiritual worlds, symbolism and daily rituals of present and ancient cultures, especially those found in the Northwest, Arctic Coast, Asia and my homelands of the Southwest. I do this work for the "process" and the finished work are the gems of that work. I find that the process of the work opens the doors of understanding to many aspects of my life and has at times acted as a guideline for myself. I enjoy sharing my studio with friends and students and also use my gifts of art to do Spiritual Direction and Dreamwork.

You go, Girl! It's been so long since I checked my site; I'd almost forgotten about it. Just wanted you to know that I finally checked yours out, and it's beautiful just like you are.

Rick, thanks for the "pat on the back" to tell you the truth, I had all but forgotten about being posted here,.....Iam in the process of packing up my studio and home and moving back to my beginings, colorado, mainly because its my turn to be a caregiver and it would be nice to make some money without so much struggle Va. is not the place to sell my type of work without making a lot of roadtrips, up and down the coast....so, mountains, here I come.......a sorta potlatch gift from the gods.
what type of artist are you?

Mary ... I so enjoy the contemplative nature of your work as posted here. The mythological/spiritual worlds of the continent's past cultures is a wonderful area for inspiration. I also agree with your statement regarding 'doing the work for the "process"...' My beliefs are that the art 'is the act of creation and the process,' not the end result, being as you call the 'gems.' These jewels are sadly the commodity the art world and collecters latch onto. A sad commentary when one reflects upon the wisdom and culture of the Pacific NW natives and their act of giving and all it entails in creative pursuits regarding their 'potlatch' ceremonies. Continued blessings for the future in your creative excellence!
