Oil Painting- Nature

Just a little for now about me, my life, my art and it's intended meaning and direction.

My interest in creating art goes way back to when I was a child growing up in a little town, (at the time), called New Paltz in New York. My family and I were nestled in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, and on a 5 acre patch of meadow, stream, and woodlands on three sides of our home. A very shy child, I spent most of my time sketching scenes from my window, or from my little excursions into the meadows. Everything in nature seemed to spark a desire to somehow recreate them with my colored pencils, crayons, or whatever else I could find, and try to recreate what I saw as close to reality as I possibly could.

Over the years, I found that my love of nature was not only deepening but I was also becoming deeply aware and concerned for the survival of all that I had so grown to love and appreciate in the magnificent beauty and splendor of the worlds wildlife and habitat, now in peril...

Floral Splatters

This whimsical work has just a bit more detail on the branches now, and more leaves peeking out here and there. I will add the final update to this onto the site when it is finished. This has been a very busy summer for me, and so, I just haven't had much free time to pull another collection together.

The Palmer Island LIghthouse

This is a somewhat small painting, but even so, the sky will be alive with lightening flashing deep within the oncoming storm clouds, and touching down just above and beyond the land in the distance. The beam of light from the lighthouse will be heading out onto the troubled waters as the storm rolls in, and foaming onto the shore. So many subtle hues and points of light will be brought into it that I'm hoping it will capture the power and awe inspiring majesty to be seen in one of natures' most unpredictable of moods.

I've been debating on what type of cloudscape I want to put into the mallard duck scene...the other that I had would have been too distracting from the main subject. I've yet to add much of the reflections and movements of the water around the ducks, but hope to do that within the next week or so.
