I collect objects. These objects are often in the form of plants and seeds however the collection is not limited to nature. My collection invites the exploration of form, line and color through drawing. This exploration informs me about the beauty contained in the objects. The beauty that is evident in the life cycle from birth, maturity, to old age and finally death. Seeds for an example contain the information, and sustenance necessary for life to initiate. Without a catalyst however, the seeds will never grow and will instead rot and die. This organic relationship is what my work refers to, the beauty found in the acknowledgement of mortality and imperfection.
The direction in which I deal with sources of imagery is by balancing objects that have had a real function and using them metaphorically to stand in for processing and rethinking a way to understand familial connections.
