Artists Biography Katrina O`Connor
1985 born in Galway lives and works as a abstract painter in Galway Ireland, I started my art degree in Co. Sligo when I was seventeen and continued to complete my (BA) honours degree in fine art in Sligo, I have been out of art college now three years and since completing my degree I have been focusing on still life, painting organic shaped materials based on nature sources such as leaves, bark and flowers. I use a lot of paint in a heavy medium as I experiment trying to convey line and structure in my work. I push the organic shapes further taken aspects from my drawings also I experiment with colour in order to balance darker and lighter tone.
My paintings are a feast for the eye and are open to interpretation as some of my work looks like nature distorted and some aspects of my paintings are beginning to look biological forms. My interest in nature sources is the admiration of detail in bark, texture...
