Ceramics- Nature

I have spent the last few years teaching art to young adults. My goal was to show my students the bases for valuing and critiquing art, understanding the nature of art, while learning the processes and techniques for creating art. The next step for me is going public; my plan is to put what I taught into action so it may be enjoyed by more than just my students.

Creating art is one facet of how I am able to express my adoration for our Creator. I want people to see the beauty of God’s creation through my work; so most often my work has a naturalistic feel.

My work is also one of a kind, it may have a common theme but you will never find the exact same piece. I believe that if I were to make a number of the same pieces I would loose the joy and excitement of creating something new. I love to create with my hands and I hope that I have been able to convey that to you.

Genuinely,

Jessica Carey

Now that I feel as if my artwork and life are in order I would like to begin placing my work in a few shows. If any of you know of one in WA state please let me know. Also, I have uploaded some images of my newest pieces...take a look.

Artist Statement
2008-06-08
I have been working on creating an artist statement that will be posted next to my work at the gallery. I want it to be concise but give the viewer some insight into who I am and what my work means to me. I have posted my new revised statement on my page. I would love some advice/critiques on it. I have also posted a few images of the new pieces I have recently completed. Enjoy.

I love to create, it is such a joy watching virtually nothing turn into a work of art. Now that my "little one" has turned one, I feel as if I have finally gotten my life back into a routine and it's great being able to get back into creating some artwork. Watching my little one grow is very similar to creating art although she can't be scrapped and she definitely has a mind of her own.

New Piece

I have just added a new piece of work to my images. So if you haven't visited yet please do so and feel free to leave a comment. I would love to get some feedback on my work. Thanks

I have finally gotten my kiln figured out. Now I can begin creating and completing some new work. As soon as I complete some pieces I will be uploading some new photos of my work. Yeah!

Love your work... and congrats on the showing of your work. I have been working doing portraits for years, for a living, but never even tried to get into a show. I would love to do this at some point. How did you start?
