In my studio, I explained in Spanish what happened to my Uncle when he passed away and had a translator in English. Afterward, I played two songs that were played at the funeral and covered a piece of paper in white pastel. This is a specific memory that happened when I was 17 by how I interpreted my Uncle’s death, and how I have dealt with that memory today.

In my studio, I wore a black velvet dress, used 4 white conte crayons, and covered four black pieces of paper. With the first 3 pieces of paper, I drew with my right hand, and smeared with my left. With the last piece of paper, I drew with my left hand, and smeared with my right. During the performance, music was being played specifically for each piece of paper. This is not only a reference to me being an ambidextrous but also dealing with a specific memory, which starts with my Uncle’s death at age 17.
