Abstract
I have been a professional artist for over 30 years working mainly in glass and jewelry. Most of my glasswork now consists of creating glass art for architectural applications commissioned for private residences and businesses.
Recently, I began working with the medium of wax in my encaustic paintings because of the remarkable resemblance of the encaustic surface to glass. I find that using the element of fire, necessary in the process of creating an encaustic painting and which I have used in all my creative work, was the reason that this painting technique was a natural choice for me to follow. I have always been attracted to the magic and alchemy of working with changes brought on by heat and the melting of glass.
