The drawings that you see here are part of a large series I completed last year titled Works and Days. The series consists of 365 small pen and ink drawings. A drawing was made on each day of 2007. The process of begining each drawing is very structured. Usually a grid was penciled onto a four inch square, sub-dividing the space of the square. From there the pen-work would begin, using the cross points in the gird as starting points from which primarily geometric patterns would form. The patterns which take shape are not pre-meditated, but the act of creating each drawing is a form of meditation. Rather thatn my body sustaining a yogic posture, my hand and eye create and sustain patterns and shapes.
