Sarah Coppola has been making things out of clay for as long as she can remember. Growing up in her mother's pottery studio, she learned at an early age how to manipulate the clay into whatever she wanted such as pizzas, snowmen, birds and many other forms. After patient instruction from her mom, around age 5 she was able to make discernable items and began selling her work at her mom's craft shows. In high school, Sarah entered many shows and exhibitions, won awards, and joined Carolina Clay Matters, the Charlotte area clay guild. Study abroad in Florence, Italy her senior year of college gave her art a profound new dimension. Sarah also had a passion for archaeology and ended up graduating with a BFA in art concentrating in clay sculpture and a second major in anthropology concentrating in archaeology from UNC Chapel Hill.
Currently Sarah lives in Durham, NC with her cat, Indigo. She works at an art gallery and makes her artwork on the side.
