Whimsical art with dominos on canvas

I am a Technicolor dreamer. In one dream I saw myself painting a large cityscape canvas with vibrant colors, using the dominos I inherited from my Aunt Vera as the buildings. The dominos gave the paintings depth; domino spots gave the buildings lights. I woke up befuddled. Although I have been involved in theatre most of my life, I never had any aspirations toward painting.

I decided to give it a try, and as I worked, realized that painting and creating visual arts filled a very different need in me than performing arts or writing could fill – a need I did not know I had.

I discovered I could make paintings with dominos as buildings. But why stop there? I’ve created pieces with dominos as knotholes, chocolate, dancers, ladders, walls – the possibilities are endless. I combine glazing techniques with decoupage layering as I go. Some are abstracts; some are worlds from my imagination.

I am influenced in creating the DominoWorks by Monet’s colors, Van Gogh’s clouds, Grandma...
