I am a self taught artist. I began painting in 2001 while on holiday in Rarotonga. It was at a time in my life when I had made a career change after 10 years as a customs officer in NZ. A year later I moved to American Samoa where I lived for two and a half years. I continued to paint in my spare time, mainly with acrylic. I was greatly inspired by the tropical environment. I later moved to Australia where I lived on the Sunshine Coast and Darwin. I returned home to NZ with my daughter in late 2007 and am enjoying completing more works, some of which reflect our unique natural surroundings or whatever is going on in my life at the time. I paint whatever takes my fancy or what moves me. I enjoy exploring the belief that all things in nature and in the universe are connected. Paintings can help connect us with the environment and with ourselves. Art can open the eyes of the soul. It can evoke forgotten memories and bring forth the deepest feelings of the spirit.
